Rilke Schule offers a number of activities and options for children before and after school. We sponsor an extended school day early in the morning, and a homework club after school. In addition, we have Drama Club, Music clubs, and language classes offered at various times. Other organizations also offer activities for children before and after school. PLEASE NOTE: Parents who have an outstanding balance owed from last year's Optional Intensive Program will not be allowed to register for after school activities until the balance is paid. If this presents undo hardship for your family, please speak directly with Principal Wrabetz. Thank you!!
EXTENDED SCHOOL DAY Our Smart Start Before School is offered Monday- Friday from 7-8 AM. The cost is $150 per quarter. Payment must accompany registration - no spot will be held without payment. Classeswill be canceled if less than 10 children are enrolled for eachsession.
Every student may bring breakfast that does not need to be heated and can be eaten without requiring much cleanup.

HOMEWORK CLUB Rilke Schule offers Homework Club Monday through Friday on regular school days (not on half or in-service days) from 3:15-4:00PM/4:00-5:00 PM.
The cost is $150 Quarterly for the first hour, and another $150 Quarterly for the second hour for five days a week. If you need fewer days a week of homework club, the cost is $30 per hour per day Quarterly. As needed care can be arranged in advance for $10 a day.
Payment MUST accompany registration - no spot will be held without payment.
Each student must pack their own healthy snack for after school.

FITNESS FRIDAYS For the first quarter this year, our Friday program from 1:30 to 3:00 PM will be Fitness Fridays, an enrichment time spent primarily with our Physical Education teacher and our German Interns. Children will have snack time, Physical Activities, and occasional German activities. Students need to sign up for the whole quarter. The cost will be $50 for the first Quarter. Once we are settled into our new school, parents will have the opportunity to lead additional programs with students like our Optional Intensives program from last year.

RILKE GERMAN DRAMA CLUB - THEATER AG - ARBEITSGEMEINSCHAFT The Rilke German Drama club is open to all grades. German Drama Club will begin Tuesday, August 31st, and be held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3 - 4:15. Drama Club will be taught by Frau Sanders, Frau Cooper and Herr Schlagenhauf. The performance will be at the end of second quarter, before Christmas.
The cost for Drama Club is $100 per quarter. The Registration Form should be turned in to Administrative Assistant Terri Wood.
AFTER SCHOOL LANGUAGE CLASSES, FALL 2010
FRENCH - French Classes will be offered again after school. Monday 3:15 - 5:00 PM for Grades K-3, Wednesday 3:15 - 5:00 for Grades 4-8. Flyer. Registration Form. Please turn form in to Terri Wood at the Front Office.
RILKE SCHULE MUSICIANS Band and Orff classes have been offered at Rilke Schule before school. Fall 2010 schedule will be posted in August.

GIRL SCOUTS - 2010-2011 There is a very active Girl Scout Program at Rilke Schule. If you would like to learn more about helping with or signing your daughter up for Girl Scouts at Rilke Schule please contact Sandie Lawrence at 227-7516 or dskblawrence@hotmail.com or one of the leaders for the troops listed below. We welcome all girls and adults to this great program.
There will be a short NEW PARENT MEETING on Thursday, September 9th at 7 PM at school. If you are interested in having your child join Girl Scouting at Rilke Schule, please join us! If you are unable to attend, please contact one of the leaders listed below for more details.

CUB SCOUTS AND BOY SCOUTS AT ST JOHN’S UMC Cub Scout Pack 123 and Boy Scout Troop 210 meet near Rilke Schule at St John United Methodist on O'Malley. That's just down the hill from O'Malley and Lake Otis. The Cubs Scouts are having an introduction night at St. John on Thursday Sept 2 at 7pm. Before and After Care Options outside of Rilke Schule:
The following before and after care options are available through outside companies that offer transportation from Rilke Schule to their program. As such, they are in control of their own fees and registration process. Families must contact them directly to verify availability and fees, as well as to register.
If you sign you child up for an After Care Option that does not begin until 3 PM on Fridays, you must sign them up for the FRIDAY CLUB program as well.
Anchorage Gymnastics Association (AGA) is providing Rilke students with a Gymnastic Sport Camp after school program for all grade levels. AGA will be picking up children from our Sentry Drive location for Fall 2010.
